The people of East Knoyle are understandably very proud of their village shop and post office and now after only 4 years it is difficult to imagine the village without either.
The shop, which is owned and run by the community of East Knoyle, began trading on 23 June 2006 and was formally opened by Terry Pratchett, the author, on 5 August. It is now run on a daily basis by unpaid volunteers from the village, guided by Janeen Evans the sub post-mistress. Its overall management is the responsibility of an elected management board.
The shop provides a wide and enviable array of services to the community: Besides the full range of food, both frozen and fresh:
*Newspapers *Kindling and Firewood *Tickets for village events * Freshly Baked Croissants *Off Licence * Dry Cleaning *Community Computer and Printer
