This picture of East Knoyle church in 1845 shows the medieval chancel arch before the restorers created the fake romanesque effort, also the present pulpit (1726), but with a 'tester' canopy on top. Part of the present south aisle had yet to be built, and the two pillars supported the balcony which came forward beyond the main door into the main nave.
