The Editor is in receipt of the following letter which provides the latest news concerning the resurfacing of the Underhill Road:

As consultant representative for Wiltshire Council, I write to inform you of a further treatment which is programmed to be undertaken to Underhill, East Knoyle.  These works involve the resurfacing of the existing carriageway.

Due to the nature of the works and the local environment, works are to be carried out within temporary traffic control for the duration of the scheme, to ensure that adequate health and safety is maintained for my contractor and local residents. The resurfacing works are due to commence on Monday 19th July 2010 and will be completed by Monday 26th July, the site will be resurfaced during the daytime.

Access will be maintained for all frontages within the works at all times although; due to the nature of the works minor disruption is inevitable. It is essential that the road remains un-trafficked until the new material has set, as early trafficking could lead to premature failure. Dedicated Traffic Management operatives at the extent of the works will monitor access and give motorists assistance. Please appreciate that these people are there to look after the safety of the travelling public and the safety of the workforce.
